Will she hang up or will she leave me hanging out to dry on the wall my head will be banging. Knock that goddamn phone right off the hook. In a vain attempt to secure my slumber, I reached in my pocket and tore up her number. But that’s no use; she’s listed in the book. She’s in the book for anyone. To call her now would surely seal my fate. I dream about impending doom. Throw a cell phone in my tomb. If she’s on the other line, then I can wait. I go to work tired. I go to bed scared. Nobody understands. My friends keep saying, "It could be worse! She's a lot cuter than Freddy Krueger!" I don’t want to hear their replies. I just want to open my eyes. I get drunk (keep text messaging the same girls). I get old (it’s not as cute as it was the first time). But it’s harder than you think it is to press send when there’s somebody on the other end.
